Needle Exchange
What is a needle exchange program? What are the benefits? Why exchange needles?
Needle exchange can help make communities safer. Getting brand new needles and using them each time you inject (rather than sharing or accidentally mixing-up needles), helps reduce the spread of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other health concerns. Also, when you safely dispose of your needles, they don't end up in the trash or on the street--which puts others at risk for needle sticks.
One-for-one needle exchange is legal and widely available in Seattle/King County. In addition to exchanging needles, you can get free cottons, cookers, ties, alcohol pads, and safer injecting tips; condoms & lube; and referrals to local healthcare, social service, and treatment programs.
Needle exchange and FREE safer-injection supplies are also available at TGIF, NEON's Health Night, on Fridays from 3-5 p.m. Say hello to our Peer Educators in person and while you're there...get tested for HIV, STIs, and Hep C for FREE! Appointments are available for 3 p.m and 4 p.m. Please call 206.323.1768 to schedule, or just walk-in.
